A Fragrant Flight Through Time - The Inspiration Behind the SCENT PRINT Logo
The Scentprint logo takes the form of a bird — elegant, weightless, and poised in flight. It draws inspiration from a Tang Dynasty artifact: the Silver Incense Ball with Bird-and-Grapevine Motif, a remarkable example of the traditional xiangqiu (香毬). These wearable incense containers first emerged during the Han Dynasty and were once favored by noblewomen of the East. Far more than mere adornment, they embodied grace, ritual, and personal identity. As ancient texts recount: “As the carriage passed, fragrant clouds lingered for miles; even the dust was scented.”
The bird in our logo echoes the one engraved on this timeless relic — delicate yet enduring. It captures the spirit of scent in motion and reflects our mission: to carry forward the poetics of Eastern fragrance culture and reimagine it through a contemporary lens.
The Wu'Xing Flora
Wu'Xing Flora is SCENT PRINT’s debut piece — a refined fusion of Eastern herbal scent blocks and sterling silver jewelry. The pendant features an openwork design inspired by leak windows in Suzhou gardens, letting fragrance breathe through form. This series includes three openwork patterns:

Hai'Tang (Begonia Blossom)
Inspired by the traditional Chinese abstraction of the crabapple flower. A symbol of joy and wholeness
Qian (Ancient Coin)
Inspired by the coin first introduced during the Qin Dynasty, it symbolizes wealth, harmony, and enduring fortune.

Suo'Zi (Armor Chain)
Drawn from the interlocking scales of traditional armor, symbolizing protection and strength.
In traditional Chinese philosophy, the universe is shaped by five elemental forces — Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, and Water — collectively known as Wu Xing. These elements are not just physical substances, but dynamic energies that flow through nature, time, and the human body.
In Taoist metaphysics, every individual is born with a unique elemental makeup. One may have an excess of Fire, or a lack of Water — imbalances believed to affect mood, vitality, and even fate. To restore harmony, ancient scholars and healers prescribed rituals, herbs, and objects attuned to the missing element.
Inspired by this philosophy, each SCENT PRINT piece contains a modular scent block formulated according to Wu Xing theory. Developed in collaboration with Taoist masters and Chinese herbalists, every blend is crafted from elemental herbs traditionally used to nourish and balance specific energies.
